Gardening

Grow-Box Method:  Grow Box gardening is a method of growing vegetables in an enclosed box of specially prepared soil.  This method along with weekly fertilization produces yields much greater than that of a normal field garden in a much smaller space.  Insects are also easier to control because of daily inspection of the garden box.  Most importantly, the grow-box method takes a much less amount of time to maintain. You may view pictures of the Grow Box in progress here.

Needs:  tools, sprinklers, 140 cinder blocks, 6 lbs. of dolomite lime per grow-box and 3 lbs. of super phosphate per box

Sowing & Reaping Fund:  $20/month will provide plants, seeds and other materials that will give a child the opportunity to learn how to plant and harvest crops, as well as sell the profits to earn money for independent living after graduation.
